Charter

CharterWhen Matthew Carter drew ITC Charter in 1987, his goal was to create a typeface that was equally at home in an office memo, a fine book or an advertising headline. That meant the face had to perform well on both high-resolution imagesetters and the low-resolution printers that were available at the time.

CharterIn its general form ITC Charter follows traditional old style types, but three very original design features distinguish this exceptional family: narrow proportions to allow for economical use of space; a generous x-height, to improve readability at small sizes; and sturdy, open letterforms that ensure legible output in virtually all imaging environments. The result is a typeface family that is both handsome and versatile.
