Purchase Agency

The original Agency™ font was designed in 1932 by Morris Fuller Benton for American Type Founders. Named ATF Agency Gothic, the distinct, condensed sans serif font was highly influenced by the streamlined art deco design popular at the time. Benton envisioned the typeface as primarily a titling font, and as such never included a lowercase character set or alternative weights.

In 1990, Font Bureau's David Berlow took the opportunity to expand the Agency typeface and added the lowercase and bold characters to create the Font Bureau Agency typeface. Following the immediate success of the updated font, Font Bureau went on to add five weights, from thin to black, and five widths, from compressed to extended.

With Benton's original inspiration still serving as the hallmark the fonts design, FB Agency has weathered the ages and numerous type design fads to remain one of most distinctive and popular typeface super families around.
