Several years in the making, the Soho™ Complete Family Pack of typefaces is the latest addition to the growing range of designs from Sebastian Lester. This package combines both the complete Soho and Soho Gothic typeface suites.
Although slab-serif typefaces are usually relegated to "specialty" categories, Soho proves that a slab-serif typeface can be immensely charming and extremely versatile. Lester says he is "preoccupied with finding ways in which I can address modern problems like good legibility in modern media", and has followed that muse all the way through the creation of Soho.
Also in the font package is Soho Gothic - an understated sans-serif version of Soho. Building a sans-serif version of a slab-serif font requires a lot more than simply removing the serifs. Each character was redrawn in the process. Soho Gothic was also spaced and kerned as an entirely new design to ensure even typographic color at all sizes.
Practical for virtually any type of project, from corporate identity or product branding, to text and display use, the expansive variety of weights included in the Soho Complete Family Pack give designers endless possibilities from the ultra chic demeanor of the lighter weights to the rock solid statement made by the heavier designs.
By sheer volume alone, Soho can be considered a Super Family, but even without that depth, Soho has proven itself to be a truly unique and functional typeface - unquestionably earning the title of Super Family.
