After earning a Diploma in Commercial Art from The Department of Technical Education in Mumbai, India, Archana Lothe worked for a time at a large advertising agency but soon set off on her own as a freelance visualizer and commercial artist, which she has done ever since. She has always had a love for calligraphy and type, and she believes that this was inherited from her forefathers.
