David Farey was born in London in 1943, and still lives and works in England. At age 16 he left school where, he writes in hindsight, “my major achievement was winning an italic handwriting prize.” After a few false starts at the beginning of his career, Farey found apprenticeship employment in Letraset’s London design office.
Working with Richard Dawson at Panache Typography in London, Farey has been involved in the design and artwork creation of more than 200 typefaces. He is currently the principal of Housestyle Graphics, a full service studio that specializes in publication design. Farey still, however, manages to add to his prolific range of typeface designs.
