Herbert Thannhaeuser was born on December 2, 1898 in Berlin and died April 12, 1963 in Kleinmachnow. He studied as a porcelain painter, then worked for Ullstein as an advertising artist. Graphic designer for various Berlin agencies. 1925: became artistic adviser for Max Krause and several printers. From 1933 to 1940: artistic adviser for the Schelter Giesecke type foundry in Leipzig. From 1951: artistic manager for VEB Typoart in Dresden.
