Based on designs created in 1929 by Eric Gill for the Golden Cockerel Press in England, the family includes ITC Golden Cockerel Roman, ITC Golden Cockerel Italic, ITC Golden Cockerel Titling, and ITC Golden Cockerel Initials and Ornaments. The titling font, originally cast in 24 point and 36 point from identical patterns, required a more considered approach to maintain the overall integrity of this essentially pure roman form; particularly to balance and add further richness to the high ground of classic text and display styles. An equal challenge was the creation of capitals and the complete character set for the italic face, as none had been designed by Gill. Careful study of Gill's other typefaces, lettering projects and engravings in wood and stone ensured that the capitals would truly represent Gill's masterly skill and provide a perfect compliment to the lower case italic.

The numbers above, preceded by "#", in the "Text Color:" and "Background:"
fields, are "Hex" values. Short for Hexadecimal, Hex is a color model used
within HTML and other Web programming languages. Just as printers work
primarily within CMYK, and scanners, monitors and digital cameras work within
RGB, Web pages work within Hex. Colors in the RGB palette have Hex equivalents,
so if you need to find a Hex value for a particular RGB color, try specifying
the RGB value in your design application. There's a good chance it will display
the Hex equivalent for you. When used in HTML, Hex colors are denoted by a "#"
followed by a series of six letters or numbers like this: #93DB70.
