Bo Berndal's stylistic range is remarkable. His display typefaces run the gamut from alternative designs (Spacekid and Viger Spa) to delicate calligraphic scripts (Carl Beck and Maricava) to unique, powerful constructed faces (Satchmo and Logoform). Berndal has also created exceptional text faces like Golota, the sans serif Unotype, and the beautiful oldstyle design Sabellicus.
Trotzkopf History
Stylistically, Berndal’s Trotzkopf sits comfortably in the middle of this body of work. A post-modern constructivist mix of angles and curves, this distinctive face melds bold curves and geometric angularity with a hint of broad-brush calligraphy. The almost swash quality of letters like ‘f,’ ‘h,’ ‘k,’ and ‘s’ echo the upward angle of lowercase connecting strokes, and provide a graphic counterpoint to the powerful horizontal stress of the baseline. Best set slightly tight, Trotzkopf is a design that creates powerful graphic images. Want a strong, aggressive headline? Try Trotzkopf.
