Renowned designer Hannes von Döhren created Shelton Slab. The font has a printed, well-worn appearance ("gungle look"). The letters look as if they were thrown together from different alphabets, which adds to the woodcut-like character of the typeface.

The extended language support of the OpenType Shelton Slab includes the Central and Eastern European languages, as well as arrows and special glyphs.
