Licenses for desktop fonts

A typical desktop font EULA will allow you to install the font on your computer for use with authoring tools including word processors, design tools and other applications that permit font selection. Fonts can also be used for creation of print documents, static images (JPEG, TIFF, PNG) and logos. Licenses for digital ads

A digital ad license allows use of a font within banner ads or ads that are displayed in Web or mobile applications. When purchasing your digital ad license, you specify the number of impressions your campaign will require. If you’re uncertain how many impressions you will need, you can purchase a small allotment and true up at the end of the month. Upon purchasing your license, you can download an ad kit containing Web font versions of the typefaces you licensed. Licenses for The Monotype Library subscription

The Monotype Library Subscription provides access to a large selection of fonts for use on websites via [email protected] The subscription offers the option to self-host, and also grants access to desktop fonts. Licenses for regular Web fonts

Available in "Pay as you go" or "Pay once" models
Web fonts are licensed for use on websites in accordance with the conditions of the [email protected] face declaration. The Web fonts that can be acquired from are supported by all major browsers, including Firefox 3.5+, IE 5+, Opera 10+, Chrome 4+, Safari 3.1+, iOS Mobile Safari, Android 2.2+ and BlackBerry OS 6.

The cost of a license is determined by the number of times your pages are viewed; there is no time limit with regard to the duration of such a license. You actually purchase a certain quota of page views that you use up over time. We will inform you in good time before your page view quota is exhausted so that you can acquire a new page view quota.
All of our original libraries (Linotype Originals, Platinum Collection, FontFont, Monotype Library, ITC Library, Bitstream and Ascender) are available for purchase using the pay as you go model.

The pay once license is not time-restructured and you need to pay only once, without additional charges. If your site has more traffic than expected, you should again count the number of additional page views that you expect.

Licenses for mobile apps

A mobile app license permits the embedding of a font into the iOS, Android or Windows Phone mobile platforms for a single title and a set number of app installations. You can view and modify the installation limit from the cart. App installations can be spread out across the platforms your app is available for. A new license is not required to cover updates to an app, however installations of newer versions of your app do count toward your installation limit. Learn more about licenses for mobile apps

Licenses for electronic publications (eBooks)

An electronic publication license can be used for the embedding of fonts into electronic documents including e-books, e-magazines and e-newspapers. A license covers only a single title but is valid for the full operating life of that title. Every issue of an e-magazine, e-newspaper or other form of e-periodical is considered a separate, new publication. Format variations do not count as separate publications. If a publication is updated and distributed to existing users, a new license is not required. Server licenses

Server licenses authorize the installation of a font on a server that is accessed by remote users or website visitors. These licenses are commonly used by Web-based businesses providing goods that are personalized by its users such as business cards, images with captions and personalized merchandise. Users are not allowed to download the font file and the font may not be used outside the server environment. The font may not be employed for a software as a service (SaaS) application in which the service is the actual product and not the means of providing the product. Server licenses cover a set number of CPU cores on production servers (development servers are not counted) on which the font is installed. The license is valid for 1 year.
