Calypso was originally designed by the French designer Roger Excoffon in 1958 for Fonderie Olive. The fascination of Calypso is its pattern effect paired with 3D optic. His typefaces (e.g. Antique Olive, Banco, Mistral) gave voice to an exuberant body of contemporary French and European graphic design at that time.
