Inspired by the ancient carvings chiseled into Trajans column in Rome, Byington pays homage to Trajans venerable lines but strips away the subtle nuances usually associated with the classic design. Fortified to withstand the requirements of video and other low resolution applications, Byingtons strength lies in its beefier serifs and speedier transitional curves. And whats this? Recent excavations revealed a lowercase, ten meters below the columns foundation. Just kidding! Byingtons lowercase is interfused with Sabon and Garamond, mirroring the pared down simplicity of the capitals . . . and includes optional old-style numerals in OpenType-friendly apps. Byington comes in three styles; regular, bold and italic. Each font has full a full set of upper and lower case, numerals, accents, punctuation and a selection of monetary symbols. Accents are included for: Albanian, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. Every good designer appreciates the beauty and subtlety of Trajans column but there comes a time when you need more. Byington delivers a lot more; flexibility with a lowercase and timeless beauty that can withstand todays digital environment.
